DTM vs DSM 1

DTM – Derived from ground classified LiDAR point cloud only

DSM – Surface model derived from all points captured includes natural and man-made features

Created raster images form a gridded DEM

The greyscale value of each pixel is based on the aspect and slope of the terrain at that location and the location of the illuminating light-source

Derived from the ground classified LiDAR surface model. The base level of contour generation does not use planimetric break line features for contour reinforcement

Color Orthophoto Mosaics

Ortho-rectified aerial photo to the laser derived ground surface model. Orthophoto is geometrically corrected such that the scale is uniform and can be used to measure true distance 


DTM and Orthophoto draped over can be used to generate informative 3D Fly-Through Simulation of the project area
