EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN

Dato’ Gs. Nik Nasruddin Mahmood

Dato’ Nik Nasruddin Mahmood was the founder and former head of the Malaysian Centre for Remote Sensing (MACRES, 1985-2016), which is now known as the Malaysian Space Agency. Currently (since 2007) he is the Executive Chairman of Ground Data Solutions R&D Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian pioneer in airborne LiDAR technology.

He holds degrees from the University of Malaya, and the International Institute for Aerospace and Earth Sciences, the Netherlands. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Institution of Geospatial and Remote Sensing of Malaysia (F-IGRSM), Fellow of Remote Sensing Society of UK (FRSSoc), Honorary Fellow of Asian Association of Remote Sensing (AARS), Life Member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and Active Member of American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS).

Dato’ Nik has dedicated his professional life to the development and application of remote sensing and related geomatic technologies. Apart from spearheading the national remote sensing programme in Malaysia, he was also actively involved in many international remote sensing and space programmes, including as the founding Chairman of the ASEAN Committee on Space Technology and Applications (SCOSA), and as member of the UN-Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN-COPUOS).

In Malaysia, Dato Nik’ has been decorated with multiple awards including the Johan Setia Mahkota, Dato’ Paduka Setia Mahkota Kelantan, and Kesatria Mangku Negara. He has also received several international awards including the Meritorious S&T Service Award by ASEAN and Gold Medal Award by the Asian Remote Sensing Society.

Gs. Trudy R. Ganendra

Trudy R. Ganendra earned her Masters of Engineering at the University of Cambridge in 1997 and received her Master of Science in Environmental Engineering at Imperial College, London two years later in 1999.

She is a member of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) as well as the Institution of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM). In addition to this, Trudy is registered on the Board of Engineers Malaysia as well as the Institute of Engineers Malaysia.

Trudy’s career with Ground Data Solutions R&D Sdn Bhd began in January 2001, culminating in her appointment as Managing Director of Ground Data Solutions R&D in 2009. As Managing Director, Trudy’s responsibilities encompass the daily operations of the company from both a business and operational capacity. Her business duties involve corporate policies, financial analysis, and strategic relations, whereas the operational aspects would encompass bidding, planning, and execution in tandem with reporting and client liaison for projects.
