Airborne Laser and Digital Imagery Survey for Pulai Mining – Gua Musang, Kelantan

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Pulai Mining Sdn. Bhd. assigned GDS to perform an airborne LiDAR and digital imagery survey near Gua Musang, in order to estimate the volume of gold reserves available for mining in the area. The project area was approximately 66 km² in size, and despite the project location being in mountainous areas with lots of steep limestone cliffs, data acquisition was completed successfully in 4 missions spread across 3 days. Acquisition was performed at 600 m above ground level utilizing the Matrix LiDAR system, and the resulting LiDAR data had an average point density of 8.95 points/m² for all points, with an average ground point spacing of 2.55 m. Data processing was completed 2 weeks after data acquisition. GDS implemented rigorous quality assurance and quality control procedures for the horizontal and vertical accuracies, ground survey methods, LiDAR sensor calibration and data processing throughout the project. This project was successfully performed and met or exceeded the required specifications per project Terms of Reference (TOR).
